let me share a little of a phone conversation i shared with my 13
year old (8th grade- for all you slow people out there...) sister
earlier this evening...
(just to let you know-- the sharing of this story was inspired by my good friend elise's amazing post on jr. highers)
kirsten (my sister): lexie?
lexie: yes, kirsten?
kirsten: i kind-of had a bad day today...
lexie: (since this gets used pretty much every time i speak with
kirsten, i rolled my eyes, sighed, took a deep breath and followed the
lead) oh really? (dryly) why was that, kirsten?
kirsten: well, i took my bible to school today, and it didn't turn out so well.
lexie: (this caught my attention- my voice softens) what happened? why didn't it turn out so well?
kirsten: well, i took it to school and people made fun of me...
lexie: that's alright, kirst. people made fun of me when
i took my bible to school. but it doesn't matter! jesus
wants us to read the bible and think of Him wherever we are. but
you know what, kirsten?
kirsten: what?
lexie: jesus got made fun of even more than we could ever
imagine. people made fun of Him his whole life, but that didn't
stop Him.
kirsten: ummm... lexie? i don't think jesus got made fun of more than anyone else.
lexie: yes, i think He definitely did, sis.
kirsten: ummm... no. lots more people get made fun of more than that.
lexie: no, kirsten, i really don't think so.
kirsten: yes-huh. you make fun of me more times in one
week than jesus ever got made fun of. remember how you used to
call me pooper-scooper all the time? i bet jesus was never called
that. (this might be funnier to you if you understood that she
was DEAD SERIOUS...)
HOW SAD!!!!!!!!! haha..... my sister thinks she's worse
off than jesus ever was. what a confused little kid.
hahahahahaha...
i told my mom and she laughed for about five minutes over the phone...
maybe it's not funny to you, but i guess you have to know how my
sister is and thinks to get this completely. a few of you will
find it funny. if not, i just entertained myself for 10 minutes
typing out this amazingly jr. high conversation... |
